well, the price continues to drop
I am so upset I cannot see straight. On the one hand, I am grateful the prices are dropping. HOWEVER, I was so certain it was going to do this, I was waiting for it to do so. The sudden cold snap came, lasted a few days longer than it was supposed to, Chris was cold, and said “buy the oil ” So i did, after it had risen several cents per gallon. I paid 3.08 per gallon for 400 gallons. 1232.00 for 400 gallons
Today the price per gallon for 400 gallons is $ 2.36. That translates to this. 400 gallons @ 2.36 is 944.00 a savings of 288.00. OR for I could have gotten 122 more gallons of fuel for the same amount of money. I am a little sick to my stomach over that.

Well, I should be happy as the price continues to drop. And I would be really happy if the weather had stayed mild and I had been able to take advantage of the great deals. Unfortunately, I bought at the last high point before this current big slide commenced. The price had dripped, they it rose, with the drop in temperature, and then it really dipped. The price today for 400 gallons 2.50 per gallon. I paid 3.08. Doggone it.
AT Best Oil prices are down across the board, 39 cents per gallon.

As you can see, the price has deopped significantly. I thought it was going to, but the darned cold weather we had there for a week, drove the price up, and drove me to buy our oil at 3.08, it is now 2.89, down 19 cents per gallon. Makes me sick to my stomach. That makes a 76.00 difference. Doggone it. OR 26 extra gallons I could have purchased had I been able to wait And except for the few days when it was SO COLD, we have not even needed the furnace.

well, today, the prices for heating oil dropped again at Discount Oil.
400 gallons is 3.02 today BEFORE a 4 cent per gallon cash discount, and / or a 2 cent per gallon senior (62 +) discount. They also have a new customer discount of 10 free gallons. You may use up to a combo of 2 discounts.
200 gallons is currently 3.04 BEFORE the above discounts.
It is making me slightly cranky that I waited and watched, then the cold set in and the prices rose, so I bought mine, then immediately the prices dropped again. The above price of 400 gallons @ 3.02 is 6 cents less than I paid, adn with another 4 cents off per gallon that would make it 2.98 per gallon which is 10 cents less per gallon than I paid. Oh well, it is nice the house is warm when I walk in now.
I will keep watching and posting, in case you still need to purchase oil, or if you need to purchase again.
November 18, 2014 Oil Prices today
by Sue on Nov.18, 2014, under Oil Prices
So we bought oil last week. The cold weather showed up early, and would not go away. There was big wind, 4 snowflakes, quite a bit of ice, and temps well below freezing, so unfortunately I had to break down and turn the furnace on before Thanksgiving. So, of course, the price had risen, and stayed at the elevated number. So I paid 3.08 for 400 gallons. I had been waiting for it to dip below 3.00
So today, I checked prices and OF COURSE, the price has dropped considerably. When I checked prices on Thursday of last week, Best Oil had the best price, ( as usual). So I ordered there. Today when I checked, Discount Oil is better by 1 cent. Discount Oil has discounts (who’d’a thunk it from their name) They have a new customer discount of 10 free gallons. They have a cash discount, but (when I checked) they meant cash, not check or debit card) of 4 cents per gallon. There is also a discount for seniors, 62 plus. You are allowed to combine 2 discounts. The good people at Best Oil, have 2 prices, cash/check, and debit / credit. The price I quote here for Best Oil is the cash price. The price I quote for Discount is there current price, as I do not know what discounts you may or may not qualify for.
date | company | 100 gal | up/down | 150 gal | Up/Down | 200 gal | Up/Down | 400 gal | up/down | 600 gal | up.down |
11/18/194 | Best Oil | 3.29 | up .04 | 3.22n | down .05 | 3.07 | up ,08 | 3.04 | down .04 | 3.02 | down .04 |
Discount/Larsen/McCall | 3.32 | no change | 3.05 | no change |
I am not certain what happened to my form here, so I will just tell you that today, Discount is 1 cent cheaper per gallon than Best IF you pay CASH. otherwise, their prices are 100 gal = 3.32 200 gal = 3.07 400 gal = 3.07 600 gal = 3.05
So it cost me 1232 this year for my 400 gallons. Last year it was 1312. Today it would have been 1216. I will continue to monitor the price of oil. Maybe IF it drops considerably ( and man I hope it does) I will get some more !
