Oil Prices
2022 Jan 19 Oil Price

Last Friday I emailed Best Oil PDX to order 200 gallons of fuel oil. 4.12 a gallon. I made a mistake not buying all the seasons oil back in October for 3.50 gallon. So, I ordered online 200 more gallons. Did not hear from them, Sat, Sun, Mon, or Tuesday. I thought it odd and unusual but it was a weekend, and MLK Day on MOnday, so today Wednesday I called them. First call, phone picked up and hung up immediately. Called again, phone picked up and female voice screamed we cannot answer the phone right now you fucking idiot. Well, ….. so I called Pulliam Petroleum and ordered 200 gallons. It was .02 cents cheaper no big deal but at least they did not screech and call me names. So, I guess it will be Pulliam for us from now on. But criminently, 1500.00 for 400 gallons. That is the MOST we have ever paid. I will be checking regularly to see what the prices are, AND I will try to fill up the tank at cheaper prices to avoid this problem in the future.
Bought oil for the year :)

I bought our oil the eight of October. I bought 400 gallons, it was 2.14 per gallon. 856.00
Not the most, not the least, but a good enough price. I will buy more in a bit, if the price stays low, and fill the tank up. I need to measure but I think I had about a hundred gallons left in the tank. We like to turn the furnace on not before Halloween. that is my usual day. Sometimes, I can delay til Thanksgiving, but the temps turned quite cool, with lows in low 30’s and highs only in mid 40’s so it was chilly. Turned on the furnace on 10 24, 2020. 🙂 A week early. Some say the weather patterns that are setting up, very closely resemble 2008. We had a cold December, below freezing for several weeks. And then a LOT of snow. Unfortunately, it turned to rain on Christmas Eve and Christmas day was a MESS. Hoping for some gorgeous snow, but not a mess. 🙂

so, oil prices fell on the stock market yesterday to below zero. Never happened before. And heating oil prices dropped 3 cents a gallon. That makes zero sense. It would seem they should have dropped much more significantly than that. But here it is for today:

well, wow. Pretty big drop today. Down 9 cents a gallon, when you buy 200 gallons. From 2.01 gallon to 1.92 gallon. Significant savings. Since I do not think the economic news will improve in the next several days, I hope this price continues to drop. I will keep checking.
